A technical guide to creating a distraction-free writing environment by removing the desktop environment entirely and using terminal-only Linux distributions like Debian, Ubuntu Server, Arch, or Alpine. There's so much you can do in the terminal! There's applications for file management (ranger), web browsing (Lynx, w3m), markdown reading (glow, mdcat), email (Alpine, NeoMutt), IRC (WeeChat, Irssi), music (cmus, MPD), RSS (Newsboat), and writing tools (Micro, WordGrinder), plus document management via git or rsync cron jobs... oh, this is kind of long-winded, isn't it?
