Let's keep this simple and human, shall we? This is my blog and not a multinational corporation trying to data-mine your soul.

🌻 What I Collect (Almost Nothing)

The bare minimum:

  • If you fill out the contact form or guestbook, I get whatever you type into those fields
  • Your name, email (if you provide it), website (if you share it), and your message
  • That's it. Really.

The technical stuff:

  • I use Umami analytics which is privacy-focused and doesn't track you individually. See their privacy page for details
  • No cookies from me (though third-party services like fonts might set them)
  • No ads, no tracking pixels, no selling your data to shadowy corporations
  • Your IP address might be logged by my hosting provider (Netlify) for security purposes, but I can't look at it

🍓 What I Don't Do

  • I don't sell your data
  • I don't track you across the internet
  • I don't build detailed profiles about you
  • I don't send you emails (unless you explicitly sign up for my newsletter)
  • I don't share your information with anyone except when required by law. This has never happened. Consider this a canary 🐤

📝 How Your Info Gets Used

  • Contact form messages: I read them and respond if needed
  • Guestbook entries: They're displayed publicly (except your email, which stays private)
  • Comments: If you leave a comment, it's visible to everyone
  • Again, that's it

🎯 The Terms Part

By using this site, you agree to:

  • Be a decent human being, respect this space
  • Not use my content for commercial purposes without asking (see license for details)
  • Not spam me with SEO pitches or "content collaboration" requests that are clearly mass emails

What you can do:

  • Read and share my content (with attribution!)
  • Leave thoughtful comments and guestbook messages
  • Quote me in your own writing (with proper credit)
  • Learn from my code and build cool things

What you can't do:

  • Copy my work and pretend it's yours
  • Use my content for commercial purposes without permission
  • Try to hack my site (there's no backend so good luck with that)

🔒 Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Ask me to delete your data (just email me)
  • Request a copy of any data I have about you (it'll be a very short email)
  • Tell me if you think I'm messing up privacy-wise

🌍 International Stuff

This site is hosted in Canada, run by a Canadian, and follows Canadian privacy laws. I try to respect privacy laws everywhere, but since I'm just one person with a blog, let's all be reasonable about this.
