This website and its contents operate under a dual license model. Different parts of the project are covered by different licenses, as described below.

Code License (GNU Affero General Public License v3.0)

The source code that powers this website — including HTML templates, CSS, JavaScript, Eleventy configuration, build scripts, and any other technical implementation files — is licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 (AGPL-3.0).

This program is distributed in the hope that it will be useful, but WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY; without even the implied warranty of MERCHANTABILITY or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. See the GNU Affero General Public License for more details.

You should have received a copy of the GNU Affero General Public License along with this program. If not, see https://www.gnu.org/licenses/.

Additional Permission (Template and Theme Use)

As an additional permission under GNU AGPL version 3, section 7: You are granted permission to use the templates, layouts, and design patterns of this site as the basis for your own independent website, provided that you do not reproduce the written content, personal branding, or imagery belonging to Brennan Kenneth Brown. Derivative sites built from the code must still comply with the AGPL-3.0 in full, including making their source code available.

Third-Party Dependencies

This site is built with Eleventy and various npm packages, each of which carries its own open-source license (typically MIT or ISC). The AGPL-3.0 above applies only to original code authored by Brennan Kenneth Brown. All third-party dependencies retain their respective licenses. See package.json in the source repository for a full list of dependencies.

You are free to:

  • Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format
  • Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially

The licensor cannot revoke these freedoms as long as you follow the license terms.

Under the following terms:

  • Attribution — You must give appropriate credit to Brennan Kenneth Brown, provide a link to the license and to the original source URL, and indicate if changes were made. You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.
  • ShareAlike — If you remix, transform, or build upon the material, you must distribute your contributions under the same CC BY-SA 4.0 license as the original.
  • No additional restrictions — You may not apply legal terms or technological measures that legally restrict others from doing anything the license permits.
  • Notices — You may not remove or obscure any copyright, credit, or attribution notices present in the original material.

Images, Media, and Assets

Images, photographs, illustrations, and other media assets on this site are not uniformly covered by either license above:

  • Brennan's original photography and illustrations are covered under CC BY-SA 4.0 unless otherwise noted.
  • Third-party images (including badge images, webring graphics, and other media sourced from external creators) remain under their original licenses. Attribution is provided where applicable.
  • The lucky cat doodle used on the homepage is sourced from OpenClipart and is in the public domain.

When in doubt about a specific image or asset, please contact me before reuse.
